Ok fokes. I would like to find out if there is a way to set up my desktop and laptop so that I can transfer files back and forth between them. I am connected to a router on both comoputers and it is wirles. I can tell my laop top that I want to shatre the c drive but if I try to bring up the opsions to share on the desktop it just sits there and freeses for a few minutes and then I get a debuger dialog box what should I do. I doon't want to have to reformat if I don't havee to so if someone could help me that would be great.
Matthew who is still desperetly trying to fix it.
What i usually do is use a media type but I don't know about connections.... I would get a usb transfer cable, I trust cable connections more than whireless
Well if you just share your c drive on your laptop and then connect to it on your desktop you won't need to share anything on your desktop, as you can copy things from your laptops c drive to your desktop and things from your desktop to your laptops c drive.
This might take a long time if you are using 802.11b wireless cards.
Have you considdered using dvd's?
BEN.
I have done that but I don't see the drive or folder when I tell it on the laptop that I want it to share what else do I do to get the desktop to see the laptop. I do have a usb drive, but the audio files take up most of the space. I don't mind it taking up some time as lonog as I know it works. It was fine for a while but now all of a sudden it no longer works,.
Well tbh i don't really understand ^.
So lemme give you this in steps
1: share your laptops c drive.
2: in run on your desktop type \laptopname (if you don't know what this is then type in %computername% in run and press enter it will say.)
You shood see your laptop now, with a folder called c which is your c drive.
Hope this helps, BEN.
